Your Part Isn’t the Whole Mission

The grant can be finished. The mission can’t.
In nonprofit work, there is almost always one more useful thing somebody could do.
Usually, there is a good reason for it.
That is how “the work matters” becomes “I should keep going.” Not in one dramatic decision. On an ordinary Tuesday, when the deadline is close and somebody has to handle it.
Do that often enough, and one person’s extra effort can quietly become part of how the organization functions.
This program gives teams shared language for sorting what belongs where:
Mine
What can I actually do or decide?
Ours
What needs another person, a better process, or backup that does not exist yet?
Bigger Than Us
What matters deeply, but was never going to be solved by one person, one team, or one organization?
What people take with them
The point is not to care less.
It is to notice when commitment quietly becomes “I guess this is mine too.”
When the next urgent thing lands, there is a question to come back to:
What is my part here?
In work that may never be finished, finished cannot be the only measure of whether your part mattered.
A mission built on community should not require people to work as if they are alone.
Choose the format that fits
Keynote — A story-led session for conferences, retreats, staff gatherings, and nonprofit events. People are introduced to the Mine / Ours / Bigger Than Us framework and a question they can use when the next urgent thing arrives.
Interactive workshop — More time to apply the framework to current work. Participants look at where responsibility keeps landing and identify one place that may need to be shared, supported, or handled differently.
Keynote + workshop — The keynote opens the conversation. The workshop gives people time to use it.
Personal sharing is optional. Fees depend on format, length, audience size, location, travel, and customization.
